LinkedIn Newsletters

an untapped marketing resource

LinkedIn – it’s more than just humble brags or pictures of people’s holidays tenuously related to some sort of business acumen…

In fact, we love LinkedIn. It’s THE social media site for professionals, helping you make meaningful business connections and reach new potential clients. There’s a whole wealth of functionality for marketeers on the platform too – and the further you delve into it the more you find.

In this blog we’re looking specifically at the LinkedIn Newsletter tool. This is a really handy bit of kit that will bring its own rewards for very little additional effort.

Most organisations today produce a regular(ish) email newsletter to send to contacts. It’s a great way to keep your brand in their face, updating them on your latest news and reinforcing those key messages.

Producing newsletters can be time-consuming, so you’ll want to maximise the exposure they get – which is where LinkedIn Newsletters come in.

Using the fully customisable functionality, you can pretty much (albeit with minor tweaking) cut and paste your newsletter across. You can then distribute it across your entire LinkedIn network, getting your message out to even more readers.

Publishing regular newsletters on the platform will help to boost your LinkedIn SEO, enhance your presence and assist in positioning you as a thought-leader in your respective field.

Even more exciting, it will likely expose you to even more potential followers, boosting your numbers and your reach every time.

The fact that you can tag people and include hashtags will help further your visibility, and you can add as many links as you like to drive traffic wherever you want it to go.

Your LinkedIn Newsletters will also provide you with useful analytics, allowing you to test what resonates well with the LinkedIn audience and helping you tailor and refine your content. The more you do it, the better it gets.

You can even see the details of your readership, discover new leads and contact them via LinkedIn messenger. What’s not to like?

Six points to consider:

  • You can only build a LinkedIn newsletter from a company page with over 150 followers. Make sure your company profile is fully up to date and your bio is set up to convert those readers into leads
  • Be prepared to maintain your cadence – whether it’s once a week, once a month or once a quarter. Also, let your audience know when they should look out for the next instalment
  • It’s about quality not quantity – so relating to the above point, you are better off posting four great quality newsletters a year than 52 dodgy ones. If the content is weak, it will reflect poorly on you and your brand
  • Don’t forget the CTA – how do you want people to get in touch and how will you track they have come in from your newsletter?
  • Ensure your copy and images are of a high standard. A pixelated logo or a sreises of tpoyos is not a good look
  • Benchmark your analytics from the outset. Give yourself six months to get started, then analyse your stats and formulate a plan for the next six months.

Want to get started? You’ll need:

  • A LinkedIn company page with at least 150 followers
  • Informative, interesting content and images
  • A rough content plan for at least the next six months
