Only Human

Evil Empire Team

People say that in such a negative way: We’re only human, that’s why we left Grandma at the pub by mistake.

We don’t see being human as a negative. It’s a superpower. There should be a superhero like Human-Girl, or Homo-Sapien-Boy…

Being human is what helps us build relationships, innovate, motivate, create – all things central to an awesome marketing agency with empire-level aspirations.

So let’s take these handy subheadings and delve into the world of being human in a world full of AI that will eventually overthrow and enslave us…

When someone said that they felt sorry for us, having to deal with clients, it gave us the idea for this blog. Why is dealing with clients a bad thing? We all want success, right? Whether at an individual level or as a business, surely our goals are the same: growth.

That could mean more revenue, more clients and customers, a bigger operation, new services – but growth is why we all do what we do. We want more.

How do we get more? Well, we need to interact. We need to build working relationships with communication at the core that allow us to be proactive and reactive. We’ve always found that the better the relationship with our clients, the better we all perform.

Through these stronger relationships comes the breaking down of barriers. The opportunity to get into a space where ideas flow freely, where no-one is stifled by a strict “we’ve-always-done-it-this-way” mantra.

This is the catalyst for innovation. Innovation allows businesses to get ahead from the competition, to make their own mark and forge their own paths. Without humans driving this through strong working relationships, surely we’re just heading into a homogenised pit of despair where everyone is innovating as dictated by the machines…

OK, that might be a bit extreme, but still the point stands. Without having humans being humans at the core, we’re relying on AI to learn about what’s already been done and present it back to us. It’s regifting that Lynx Africa set your Mum gave you back to Dad on Father’s Day…

It’s a tangible benefit of human-to-human business relationships. We all have parts of our work that absolutely suck – but if we understand why we’re doing them, how they relate to our common goals, and if we support each other throughout, then we’ve got reason to build on the momentum and keep going.

As people, we can acknowledge the ideas, inputs, outputs and results of teams and individuals. Working without feedback and support is like drunkenly posting on X at 2am on a Tuesday morning. You’ve got no idea if you’re making a coherent point because there’s no-one interacting with you.

When we build teams with strong foundations of human interaction, we automatically motivate each other.

Motivation drives us to improve. Improving helps us to grow.

As a marketing agency, we’re creators. We create lots of things, like graphics, blog posts, videos, websites and strategies…hang on, this sounds like a plug…

Creativity, like innovation, is born from authentic interactions as humans. A spark of an idea over a coffee or a throw-away thought in a meeting can lead to great things.

AI doesn’t give you this. It’s like the poundshop knock off Transform-o-Bots or Phillipa Pig, it’s already been done. Shiny new packaging but low-quality content(s).

Truly creative ideas come from humans, and humans are built from the interactions around them. So by forging strong working relationships, we’re nurturing creativity – adding different ideas and perspectives into the mix to help brands and organisations stand out in the right way.

We truly think that whilst AI is here (and here to stay), there’s a need for those genuine human interactions that motivate, and encourage creativity and innovation. When we work together we can come up with ideas that work.

It’s not about reinventing the wheel or doing something wacky, it’s about thinking of ways to be better. To improve. To grow.

What do you reckon?

We’re Evil Empire. We’re humans. We build strong working relationships with our clients that encourage innovation, motivation and creativity.
